Tattoo's, Are They Biblically Acceptable Or Are They Wrong?

This a not so important topic but one that I have been wondering about for a while. In Leviticus it say that we are not to put tattoo' on ourselves but Christ took that law away and all the laws away when he died. But tattoos also have pagan origins and were associated with the dead and erotic love gods in Egyptian society for example. God put that law into place so that Israel would nto fall into something of pagan origins.I am not saying all tattoo's are pagan but the art of tattooing has pagan origins therefore we are in a very strange way accepting idea's from other religions.

Conclusion: Tattoo's are wrong in one sense, but if you are going to get one then let it '...honor God in your body.'(Philipians 1:20), dont let it demean God in any way shape or form. I would not reccomend them because when you are older it will not look great at all.

In Christ's love and God Bless-
Will

  2. Regarding the Tattoo issue...

Personally, I find it very Very unattractive when people have ink all over their skin. Especially when the things depicted are crude, sensual, demonic, etc.

However, I plan on getting a tattoo someday.
Yes, I'm a Chrsitan, Yes, I love Jesus with all that I am, Yes, I agree that the Body is a temple, and should be used to Glorify God.
In light of all that, let me explain the tattoo I plan on getting.

Since I am a music fanatic as well as being in love with Jesus, I want to get a worship song tattooed on me. Imagine a Treble Cleff Staff, with the Notes and Lyrics to the song "Mighty to Save" wrapped three times around my right ankle. The Lyrics will be in an elegant script, and the Notes will be very small, say around two millimeters in diameter.

In case you aren't familliar with that song, here's some of the lyrics:

    Verse1-
Everyone needs Compassion; a Love that's never failing...Let mercy fall on me.
Everyone needs Forgiveness; the Kindness of a Savior... the Hope of Nations.

    Chorus-
My Savior, He can move the Mountains,
My God is Mighty to Save,
    He is Mighty to Save
    Forever, the Authorof Salvation:
    He Rose and Conquered the Grave;
    Jesus Conquered the Grave

    Verse2-
So take me as You Find me, with all my fears and Failures...Lord fill my life again.
I give my life to follow, Everything I believe in...Now I surrender!

    Bridge-
Shine your light and, let the whole World see:
We're singin' for the glory of the Risen King
    (That's Jesus!)
Shine your light and, let the Whole world see:
We're singin' for the glory of the Risen King!

Please comment back and let me know what you think...
