Hey Hawk

People love movies. Simple as that. It depends on the movies though. I just recently saw a movie review on Raanger Hawks blog for The Vampires Assitant. Note: This is not done in hate in any way or form. It is done to clarify some things.

Ok here it goes. Firstly, what is this new found obsession with vampires? Secondly, what is wrong with this craze? We will deal with this in this post.

There has been a a growth in vampire love. This is tragic because that is not how the vampire belief started ut same with the literature. The first big book on it was by Bram Stoker. His book is a classic today but know this in his book the vampire is evil. That is how it started but now it is vampires are good and are vegetarians( Hint, hint). This sad.
This craze makes us think that a demonic creature is good. Since when are demons good? This our culture now. We have decided that vampires are good and are not evil. Read this verse from Romans:
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.( Romans 1:21)

I believe this is our culture. This vampire craze is because people's hearts have been darkened not because they feel sad and eempathize with vampires. Note: This is not to say that Hawk is having her heart darkened.

But if we start to think that dmons are good guess where that leads. It leads us to thinking that abortion is right, and that homosexuality is fine. One thing leads to another.

Conclusion: If you wish to see the Vampires Assitant, fine but just remeber that vampires were origianally evil and that Darren Shan was wrong. Hawk this is my personal view by the way. I would rreccomend reading Philipians 4:8, Hawk and then think if vampires assitant is under this category.

  1. Okay, I'ma gonna start up a little debate here.

    Firstly, Bram Stoker's Dracula isn't the fallback for all subsequent vampire novels/movies. His book simply focused on vampires and brought the public's attention to them. Yes, vampires are generally seen as "evil"; however, you look at the past "crazes." Take Harry Potter for example. There was a loud uproar in the beginning among Christians because of the whole "witch and wizard" setting. Now, most Christians I know have not only read the books, but love them and the movies.

    I think that if you view the vampires or anything else as just another fairy tale, then you're fine.

    As for the Philippians 4:8 - "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." I'd agree that dwelling on vampires and the undead isn't glorifying. However, if you're just watching a movie and it goes no further than that, I don't see how it's wrong.

    This is my opinion, which is in no way correct or better than yours. I'm just voicing my thoughts on the subject.
